Inspired by the enthusiasm for a cinematic language that expands by crossing the boundaries between genres and disciplines, Cinespécimen, with detail and craftsmanship, aspires for its films to be commentaries on the diverse experiences we have as inhabitants of this world, always driven by restless, visceral, and daring authorship.

After its early years as the Cinespécimen collective, in 2025 it became a film production and distribution company and brand founded and represented by Daniel Mateo.

Cinespécimen’s beginning

2019

2024

With the aim of continuing their passion for making films outside the academic environment, audiovisual communication and film professionals came together in 2019 under the name Cinespécimen with the intention of supporting the creative careers of its members, and shot three founding short films that year: The Piranhas, Things Among Days and Centauros. Along the way and until 2024, thanks to experimentation with cinematic language and creative freedom, new ventures and formats emerged, such as the short film Cracks Will Come (IFF Rotterdam 2023), the music video PR0BL3MBOI (Bogoshorts 2023), and the experimental short film Retorno (Intermediaciones Showcase 2024).

The perseverance and proposals of four members allowed Cinespécimen, in its five years of existence as a collective, to not only think about how to be a production company but also as a space for reflection on cinema as an artistic medium of expression, as a laboratory for creative independence in the post-production and distribution of its own films, which later expanded as a service to projects from other companies and professionals. In addition, different spaces were created dedicated to training in audiovisual creation and educating audiences about cinema.
